I was in the ocean, one day when I saw a dolphin. It waved its flipper at me. Then it dove down into the water and came back up again in front of me. It stayed there, seemingly to be waiting for something to happen. I was wondering if the dolphin was hungry. I was so deep in my thoughts that I didn’t notice that the dolphin was tapping its flipper on my hip. I looked to see what was getting the dolphin so interested. I saw that the dolphin was tapping its flipper on my camera. I was shocked. Did the dolphin want a picture? I asked the dolphin,”Do you want a picture?” The dolphin nodded as if saying,”Yes, please!” I was bewildered, How did the dolphin know what a camera is and what it does. Unless, Dolphins are the missing link to how modern humans came to be. After all, Dolphins are are almost on the same level as humans are. So, it might make sense to see Dolphins on the same evolutionary family tree as we are. Plus, Dolphins have almost the same skeletal fingers and hands as our own. I was so focused on my thoughts that I jumped when the the Dolphin started to talk to me in its own language, it sounded something like musical Chinese language. The dolphin seemed to be saying,”Hurry up, I have to go back to my family. They are waiting for me, so can you please hurry up?” I replied,”OK, OK, I’ll get there, you’ll have to wait.” I unhooked my camera from my hip and brought it up to to eye level, the Dolphin started make a pose for the camera. He smiled and winked, I took the picture of the Dolphin smiling and winking. Afterwards, I waved and the dolphin waved to me, before heading back into the ocean to be back with its family. I took a boat ride home and the next day, I walked into The World’s Science Community Fair. When it was my turn, I shared my Dolphin project with the whole audience. I shared my thoughts and what I did during the presentation. I had a very long speech about how might Dolphins be able fit on the evolutionary family tree and how they might have a role in the way we view civilization as a whole. When I was done, there was a lot of shouting and clapping. There were a few skeptics, but I talked to them and they calmed down after that.
