The Daughter of Poseidon

Part 1: One night I’m in my bedroom thinking about being a dog, then I thought,”too bad, so sad… It can’t happen.” Suddenly, Grandma came in and said, “Here you go.”Grandma gave me a bone. I said “this isn’t for me…” grandma replied, “you will see.” and left me alone again. I chewed on the bone for a little bit, then went to bed and fell asleep immediately. The next day, I went on YouTube and saw a video with a cat and I had the strangest urge. I wanted to chase the cat. It was just a video, so I moved on. I saw a squirrel later in the day and wanted to chase it outside in the backyard. I was puzzled. Am I going insane? What’s going on? I went to Kiley’s house and I told her what’s going on and it happened to Kiley too. After a while of talking with Kiley, we decided to wait and watch to see what would happen next. Then, Kiley and I went our separate ways and went home. I went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night because I felt something strange happening. I grew fur, a long tail, long nails and a long snout, a mouth full of canine teeth. I was now a dog! I was a beagle and didn’t like it, so I turned into my own pet dog, I jumped down from my bed and went out to the backyard. I walked to the fence by the patio and howled at other dogs in the neighborhood. Outside there was a full moon! It made sense. After that I went back inside the house. I walked back inside my bedroom, but when I turned around, my mom came in holding a dog’s collar and tried to put a collar on me, but I didn’t like it. I ran out of the room and outside again. That’s when I noticed a beautiful sight. I was witnessing a sunrise! It was breathtakingly beautiful! The wind felt really good on my fur. I turned around and started back inside. Suddenly, I felt hands on my fur as mom brought me inside. At first i didnt realize she was doing but then i knew she was going to put Cosmos’s collar around my neck. But as soon as she put me down in my bedroom, I went for the collar, I grabbed it in my mouth, and ran out of the room with the collar and down the hall and into the family room. I stopped there, sniffing. I smelled something, an image formed in my head. I knew what was making this smell. It was a CAT! I dropped the collar on the floor and followed the cat smell through the kitchen into the living room up the stairs and into my mom’s room. I stopped in the middle of the doorway leading into mom’s room. Standing on the other side of the room, was a cat! It was a Bombay cat and she was as black as night. Her eyes were green and her pupils were narrow slits. I barked at the cat, but it didn’t move. I barked again, louder this time. The cat still didn’t move. That’s when I decided to chase it. I chased the cat out the room, down the hall and then down the stairs, out the living room, and through the kitchen and into the family room, down the hall and out the door and into the backyard. I followed the cat and ran into a tree. After shaking off the dizziness, I looked up at the tree and the cat in its branches. I put my front paws on the tree trunk and began to bark once more. That’s when I heard something behind me. I stopped barking and slowly turned around. There now in front of me, I saw the Animal Patrol. They were walking towards me and they had long, metal poles with wide, circle hoops at the end that were pointing to the ground. The cat jumped from the tree to the ground. I asked it for help, but it explained that if it helped, it would get caught just like me. After explaining things, the cat bounded away, leaving me alone to face the Animal Patrol. The Animal Patrol and I charged at each other. I ran at the Animal Patrol as they were swinging the poles at me, but I was too fast for them. I ran over to their legs and bit them. The Animal Patrol yelped in pain as I kept doing this over and over again. That’s when we glared at each other as we got angrier and more determined.

Part 2: The Animal patrol didn’t give up. I, too, didn’t give up. One animal officer said “we have to do something… this dog is too wild.” The other animal officer nodded in agreement. He walked to his truck and came back with a small silver vial and stick. I had no idea what was inside. He started to approach me very slowly with a brow furrowed. I look closely at him and watch as he puts the stick inside of the small vial. He slowly draws a green liquid out and comes close to me. I tried to run from him, but the other dog catcher came at me and held me down fast. I tried to struggle, but it’s no use. The other dog catcher comes right next to me and kneels down. The catcher leans forward and says “it will only be a pinch.” Then, he injects me with the stick. I see the green liquid go into my back. Then the catcher takes the stick out and I say “ow.” The catcher can’t understand me and can only hear me whine. Then he stands up and steps back. He stands still, looking at me. He tells his friend to let go of me. He did. They both stand up and look at me, waiting. Then, I stand up and look at them. Suddenly, I feel woozy. I stumble side to side. I tried to regain my balance, but the wooziness was too much. I fell down. I looked at the dog catchers and my eyes grew heavy. I tried to say something. “Please. Please…let me….please” I stopped. Taking deep breaths. “Pleeeease”. My eyes…I couldn’t keep them open any longer. “Ple-“ the catcher says “take him into the truck.” The catcher picks me up and my body feels heavy, like my eyes. It felt like I was sinking into a hole deep within space. The last thing I remember is the dog catcher putting me into a small cage in the truck and closing the door behind me. Then, closing the truck doors, he left me alone. I felt the truck driving away. My eyes were still open and my breathing was almost as heavy as black hole. Then, I heard something. A voice saying, “Cidney… is that you?!” It was one of my family members. “Cidney. Cidney.” The voice continued. “Cidneyyyyyyyy….” Before I could say “Yes, its me,” I fell into a deep sleep within a nanosecond.

Part 3: I woke up in a cage. I hear dogs barking all around me. It all came back to me. The memories of the day before flooded back. The dog catcher had caught me and now I am in the pound. I began to think, how can I get out of here. I thought and thought. The cage had a lock that was locked onto the silver bar from the outside. I pulled on the lock several times. I saw the hole where the key needed to go. I thought to myself, I need a key. I had to be resourceful, so I grabbed the lock with my teeth and pulled as hard as I could. I heard it click and break. The door was finally unlocked. Yay! I swung the door open and jumped out. It was time to escape. I walked quietly to the door. Then , I heard a voice. It was the dog catcher again. Not again, I thought to myself. The dog catcher Had the same vial and stick. I do not want to fall asleep again. I tried to run away but another dog catcher was in front of me when I turned around. He jumped on top of me. I tried to struggle, but it was too much weight. I continued to struggle as the first dog catcher injected me with the stick. The green liquid was slowly poured out of the vial and into my body again. Why does he keep injecting me with this stuff, I thought. Then, the man took the stick out and told the other guy that was on top of me to stand up. He did. I stood up too. A moment of silence. Suddenly, I felt woozy. I stumbled side to side. I need to escape. I don’t want to fall asleep again. This was my only chance. I need to escape. I need to escape. Then, I knew what I had to do. I couldn’t walk. But maybe, just maybe, I could fly. Just maybe…I could fly. I stopped and stood there. Waiting. I felt something inside of me. Something that was growing hotter and hotter and HOTTER. It became as hot as the sun. A million, billion, a trillion tines as hot. Then, I suddenly felt different. Very different. So different, that I had to move to make sure that I was still myself. My fur had turned to red scales that covered my body like armour. The scale glowed like fire itself. My neck has stretched long and has curves like a snake. My legs were long and thick and they had claws at my feet. The claws that were long and razor sharp. These claws were also thick, like the horns on the back of my head. I had horns that curved and twisted like gazelles, but were a thousand times thicker. There was one horn on each side of my head. My snout grew longer and longer. My jaws were filled with sharp teeth. Sharper than any canine. The end of my long thick tail was shaped like a diamond. There were long thick spikes that grew from the top of my head to the tip my tail. These spikes were seven feet long or more. And sprouting out of my shoulder were lava red wings with claws at the top of my wings, right where my thumbs should be. These were the same claws that were on my feet. But the claws on my feet were shorter and thicker. I roared and fire from my throat flew out of my mouth and blasted the two men to the ground. They laid flat. I was no longer tired. The medicine did not affect me any more. I was now a fire-breathing dragon! I roared again and looked inside of the cages. There were no more dogs, only dragons. The dragons flew out of the cages and landed like an army in front of me. I flew up in front and spread my wings to their fullest. I flew down to the ground again and roared. Every dragon bowed down to their king. I turned around and flew up. Evrey dragon flew behind me like the US navy, except it was a navy of dragons. We flew, ready to take on all of humanity with our fiery breath, wings, our tails and our bodies. We are ready to take revenge on all of humanity. BECAUSE WE ARE FIRE. AND WE ARE DRAGONS! . DUN DUN DUN.

PART 4: “Help,” a man cried. People were running and screaming. People were calling for an ambulance and animal control, but I didn’t have time to listen. I was busy flying over cities with a dragon army behind me. We were flying over Manhattan, New York and heading for the Empire State building. We flew out, so close to the empire state building that we scratched the glass. As we flew up, we passed floors and floors. Finally, we were at the top of the building and sitting at the very top was Mt. Olympus. I gasped. It was so beautiful. It looked like it was made out of clouds. It looked like a combination of the field museum and the white house rolled into one. It was a lot bigger though. It was probably one thousand times bigger. I was sitting in the clouds and it looked angelic, like God’s house. But, there was something different about it. Even from here, I could feel it in my bones that the house was filled with power. Lots and lots of power. What is all this power? Could all of the gods be together for some reason? I thought only Zeus would be here. I thought, “there is only one way to find out.” I flew towards the house of Gods with confidence. Suddenly, there was a flash of lightning and it arched around the entire Mt. Olympus. I never saw such a thing, not even in Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Then, a loud voice interrupted my thoughts. It was a rumble, like thunder. I looked up and it said, “who dares enter my home?” I recognized who was standing above me, it was Zeus, the God of the sky. He had a white tunic across his body and in his hand there was a thirty foot lightning bolt. It was his master lightning bolt. I thought, “this is not good at all!” I am standing next to him. Then, another God appears. This God was different, he had a sea blue tunic and in his hand was a spear with three sharp points at the top, like a fork. The God holding it was the one and only Poseidon. He had sea green eyes and he said, “who dares to enter my brother’s home?” They both raised their weapons and aimed at me. Then, a third person appeared. It wasn’t a god, it was a woman, a goddess. She had stormy grey eyes, long curly brown hair and an owl perched on her shoulder. Unlike the others, she was not wearing a tunic. She wore a beautiful grey dress with an owl on it. The owl seemed to look straight through me, it was very creepy. This was Athena. These were, in my opinion. The big three Gods. I started to feel giddy. I didn’t know what to say and my mind felt blank. I felt a pit in my stomach. It pulled me in a weird way. Like, something was trying to escape. Suddenly, a wave as big as Mt. Olympus roared above me and crashed on all three of the Gods. Poseidon looked up and said, “What?! It can’t be. I have another child!?”
