Prologue:
One day, long long ago, there was a scientist working on creating brand new creatures from scratch. Some rumors say that he was so old, that he had forgotten his own name. And when he talked to people, he hardly recognized their faces. He couldnt formulate a sentence. When he got an EEG, experts saw that he knew one word and one word only….science. They learned that he could do science, but he could hardly do anything else. He could hardly see or eat. He created a device that could eat for him. He barely went outside. He could hardly socialize so he spent all day and night in his lab doing science. He never did anything else. At least that’s what the rumors say. Some say that he has a body guard, that was not human. It had a canine like tail and wings. It was a creature that he created when he was young and decide to keep it as his pet. His pet would do everything he could not do. The pet went outside and socialized. They were exact opposite. One stayed in the lab and did science and one spent their days out and about. Some say they were created for each other. Like yin and yang. The scientist and the pet never seemed to get along. They spent most days apart. One question remains, could these opposite personalities coexist? Well, that is what i’m going to share in this story about how the dog and the scientist came together at the end of time itself.
Chapter 1:
It was May 15th, 2022 and Kiley anxiously waited in dentists office for her turn. She was nervous to get her wisdom teeth out, but she knew it had to be done. After a few minutes, a nurse is blue scrubs came to the front of the office and shout “Kiley?” it was time. Kiley left her chair and walked down a long hallway, almost too long. She kept walking and walking and walking and walking. What is going on, she asked the nurse. It seemed like the nurse glitched, like a computer simulation, before she responded “nothin is wrong.” Hm i must have imagined it, kiley thought. As she kept walking, the hallway seemed to expand. “What is going on,” kiley asked again, he voice came out sharper than she meant to. The nurse glitched again and said in a robotic voice, “nothing is wrong. Nothing is wrong. Nothing is wrong” she kept repeating the same sentence over and over. She didn’t even listen to kiley when she asked what was going on. “Nothin is wrong. Nothing is wrong.” the nurse continued perpetually. Kiley turned around and started walking back the way she had come, but suddenly a door closed in front of her. She spun around and then another door closed in front of her. She was trapped. Suddenly, the room went dark. Kiley gasped. Suddenly, the lights switched on and kiley was sitting in a dentist’s chair and she heard a voice talking to her. She felt different somehow. She felt a presence behind her. Soon a dentist appeared in front of her, but it wasn’t her dentist. This was a different person. It looked like an old, confused einstein. As he looked down at her, he opened his mouth, but nothing came out. He kept trying to speak, but no words escaped. Kiley thought the dentist looked like a scientist, but she thought that’s not possible. Just a few moments ago she was waiting in her usually dentist office for her appointment. Now, she’s in a strange laboratory-like room with a man that she has never seen before. Then, I come bursting into the room and shout “Watchout Kiley! You have to run, I know how this is going to end. Run! This won’t end well.” But, by then it was too late. Kiley had already been given a shot from the scientist. She looked at me dazed and said, “what are you talking about. Nothing is wrong.” i was too late. I already lost her. Kiley has been poisoned by the scientist. I got so angry. So so angry. “You,” I pointed a finger at the man. “You are an evil scientist. You are the one i learned about all that time ago. You are the one that can do nothing but science and you have a pet that does everything for you. You are the one that was turning people into animals. How foolish of you!” the scientist tried to speak, almost like he was going to defend himself, but he didn’t say anything. His expression almost looked terrified and surprised by what i said. “Bring my friend back!” i said. He shook his head back. “Dont tell me no! Do it! You don’t want to know what i will do if you don’t bring my friend back” he shook his head agin. “Ok, you asked for it.” i launched myself at him.
Chapter 2:
Just as i was about to do my worst on him, the scientist changed. He grew bat like wings, four legs, a long tail, and dog like ears. My eyes widened and i stopped right in my tracks. I was shocked, so shocked. Before i even had time to react, the creature lunged at me. I dodged him and stuttered, “you…yo.. Are the scientist’s dog. I thought you and the dog were separate entities. It all makes sense. You are a shape shifter.” when i said this, he stopped his attack. His eyes widened and his mouth dropped open. He let out a confused whine. Soon he lowered to the ground and curled up into a ball. He shifted slowly back into a human, and stood up. Once again, the mad scientist stood in front of me. He said “how did you know that?” i was so shocked to hear him speak, “how can you speak?!” i was so confused. “I can only speak when someone knows my true identity. Now that you have seen me in my true form, i must tell you everything. My whole story. Not just the rumors. The whole truth.” my mouth dropped and then it closed. It’s all starting to make sense. I finally understood what he was saying. The scientist began to tell his story…
Chapter 3:
“When i was little,” The scientist began, “i always wanted to be a shape shifter. When i was in college, i wanted my major to be science so I could experiment with shape shifting. After college, i worked in a laboratory day and night trying to put a bunch of animal DNA into my own. After many trials, i succeeded with a mixture of bat, dog, and cat DNA. i inserted it into my own genome with a shot. From then on, i was able to turn into this creature. It was hard because i could not tell anyone about what i had accomplished. No one believed me. Rumors began to spread about my story. The story i told just now is the whole truth. No lies.” The scientist finished telling his story. My mouth dropped open. “But why did you hide?” I asked. “well…” the scientist explained, “My work was illegal so i lied about it to protect myself.” It made perfect sense. I paused for awhile in silence. “If the two entities are in one person, then that means that they are the same. Why did you say that…” the scientist interrupted my thinking, “that rumor spread because i wanted to keep my secret longer, but it turned out it didn’t work.” “Well, what about kiley?” i questioned. “I was trying to save her,” he explained. “The genome i created that i inserted into myself has a lot of diseases, ones that could infect her. So i injeccted her with a vaccine so i could save her.” “Ok, so is she ok?” i asked. “Yes, she will wake up soon” a voice came up behind me. “Cidney?” i spun around. It was kiley. I ran up to her and hugged her. “I thought you were gone forever.” I saw fear grow in her eyes when she saw the scientist. “Its ok, i explained, he’s good.” Then, we told kiley the whole story. After the scientist finished explaining, Kiley was more calm and she asked, “what did you inject into me?” “its a vaccine.” said the scientist and he explained it to her. “Ok, now can we get out of here?” “Yes, but you’re welcome back anytime” said the scientist. We left him alone in his laboratory and we sat down outside and chatted about the whole experience.
Chapter 4:
After a while of chatting, Kiley said, “i have to go.” Ok, “see you later” i said. Kiley and i walked away from each other. We separated, kiley turned and went home. I went to the tenth dimension. Kiley sat down at her desk. And soon fell asleep. She jolted and woke up suddenly. She was back in the dentist waiting room again. She was shocked but then realized It was all a dream. Then she got her wisdom teeth pulled and had to leave the dentists office. It was bad but not as bad as her dream. I guess i can deal with it. She thought, it’s not as scary as the adventure i went on with cidney. So, she left the office and continued with her life realizing that her it was not as bad or scary as the adventure she just had. Little did she know that the dream wasn’t actually a dream at all. The whole adventure had actually happened, but it was too hard for Kiley to understand. So she just wrote it off as a dream. But everything that happened was real and I helped the scientist make peace with himself after being guilty for so many years. Afterwards, he thanked by giving me the same shape-shifting powers that he had. So we lived together as a powerful duo till the end of time itself!
