The Search For the Singularity

Chapter One

Once upon a time,  I was sitting in a chair, reading a book when all of a sudden, I had an idea. I wanted to go back in time to the beginning of the universe. I jumped in my own car time machine and put in the destination 13.8 billion years ago. I pressed the go button and almost instantly, the time machine jerked forward automatically at the speed of light. The force of the acceleration was so great that my whole body slammed against the seat so hard that there was an indented outline of me in the seat from the force of the impact. I tried to move my body forward, but it was like I was glued to the seat. This motion happens because when you are moving at the speed of light, the mass and force are infinite, if the force and mass are infinite, and if I wasn’t in the right kind of time machine, then gravity would be so strong that everything in and out of the machine would completely disintegrate into individual atoms. I was grateful that I was pressed against the seat instead of being disintegrated into a bunch of atoms. I looked at the stars in the window in front of me, but something was different about the stars, they seemed to be less like points and more like lines that stretched all across the windows of the front of the ship. This happens when you move at the speed of light, the light that is hitting your eyes is moving slowly because time moves slower than normal when you are traveling at the speed of light. I kept watching the stretching lines of stars move slowly past the window like clouds across the sky. When one stretchy line disappeared from the view of the time machine window, it was only to be replaced by another stretching line followed by another line, and another almost to infinity.

Chapter Two

After a long time, I felt the time machine suddenly and abruptly slam to a stop. The movement was so strong I almost fell out of my chair. My breath caught in my throat. I gasped, trying to even out my breathing. After I had slowed my breathing back to normal, I thought it was best to look up and see where and when I was. Outside the time machine window, I saw something so unexpected that I didn’t know what to think or what to do about this strange thing. I saw absolutely nothing. There was supposed to be a tiny dot in the middle of this nothing, but there wasn’t even that. Where is the dot that should start the Big Bang for the universe?

Chapter Three

I decided to go out and explore the infinite Singularity dot. I opened the door to the outside of the machine and stood at the edge of the doorway. Wearing my white astronaut suit, I was ready to begin my search for the Singularity. I took a few deep breaths while holding my helmet by my waist. Then I put my helmet on and jumped out of the machine and floated. I was higher than the machine. I felt as free as a bird! I put on the suit, and despite its bulkiness and discomfort. I knew that finding the Singularity was crucial to saving the universe. So, I had to push through the physical discomfort and focus on my mission.  I began my journey to find the Singularity and bring the universe back to life once more. I floated around, looking to see if I could see where the Singularity was, but it was nowhere to be found.

Chapter Four

Somewhere in the nothingness, a huge creature waited. With a body as big as the universe, and as black as the color of the universe, this was a monster of strength and durability. This creature was actually Cidney from a different timeline going back in time to ultimately eat the singularity and therefore stopping that timeline’s universe from being born. But now, there are two versions of Cidneys from two different timelines at the same time. This is bad news because when two different versions of the same thing get put in at the same time, the universe will delete itself from existence. The two different Cidneys from the two different timelines are in a life-or-death situation.

Chapter Five

I spun around, looking for the Singularity, but found nothing except darkness all around. Where was the singularity? I floated back to the time machine and floated back inside. I closed the door and took off my helmet and took in a huge gulp of air. Then I changed back into my regular clothes. I sat in the front seat and stared out the window, wondering why I couldn’t find any signs of the singularity.

Chapter Six

Suddenly, there was a loud roar, so loud that it was more like a jet engine. I jumped from the sound. It scared me. Where did that sound come from? I looked frantically, but I saw nothing. Another roar, this one even louder than the first one. What is making that roar? I couldn’t see anything, but the roar I heard came from something. Something I could not see, but what? It was a strange coincidence that the singularity and the thing that was making the roaring sound were hiding somewhere. It was almost like the thing that was roaring made the Singularity disappear along with itself.

Chapter Seven

Suddenly, I looked out the window and gasped. The air inside became cold! The serpent floated to the window. Its body was long, scaly, and dark like the universe. The serpent sat upon coils and coils that seemed to go on to infinity. It also seemed to glow with a black light that shone like silver against the backdrop of the empty universe. The serpent also had two triangular horns protruding out of the back of its head. These horns looked like ears rather than horns. I couldn’t decide whether it was ears or horns, but I guess it was both. It also had a long curly mustache that came out both sides of the creature’s nostrils. This was no ordinary serpent, this was a monster of a serpent! A serpentine dragon! The serpent’s cold eyes shone a bright silver as they consumed me. It charged the time machine with its open mouth aimed straight at me. Its mouth was filled with razor-sharp teeth. The serpent got closer and closer until he charged forward at me and I fell straight in his mouth. I screamed as the serpent swallowed the time machine whole. Darkness. I blinked and looked around. It seems to be that I was in a giant Infinite cave. The walls of the cave seemed to expand and contract like a breath. It was hot and humid in the cave. The ground was sticky and slimy. I realized that I wasn’t in any cave, I was in the belly of the beast. The center of the stomach illuminated the entire area. It was a glowing orb of light so bright that one touch of it would disintegrate me and my time machine into individual atomic particles. I gasped, realizing I finally found what I was looking for. I found the Singularity.

Chapter Eight

Now, I realized why the serpent was glowing silver, it was because it had eaten the Singularity and it was so bright that it made the whole creature shine. I stared at the Singularity in astonishment. It was so beautiful and I loved the way it pulsated with a brilliant white light. It was so bright the whole serpent’s stomach glowed. I was mesmerized by the Singularity. It was super big compared to me. I was like an ant compared to it. I snapped out of the trance. It was time to get the Singularity and get out of the serpent’s stomach. But how? I peered around in the interior of the serpent’s stomach, looking for an opening to get out. I decided to take the throat opening. And with that, I opened the time machine door and got out. I knew that it was impossible to get the time machine out of the serpent’s stomach, since the time machine was stuck to the slimy but sticky floor of the stomach. So I bid farewell to the machine that I had brought on so many journeys into the past. There were tears in my eyes as I put some of the heavy-duty space gloves that I had in my pants pocket. These gloves will protect me from the Singularity which will burn me up into individual atomic particles if I wasn’t careful. I wiped the tears from my eyes and grabbed the Singularity and began to climb up the slimy walls of the serpent’s throat which seemed to go on to infinity. After a while, I finally reached the other end of the throat, but I still had an infinitely long mouth to get out of. But, I was tired from climbing up the infinitely long throat, so I decided to rest and head onto the mouth in a few hours after I get rested. I laid down on the edge of the throat, near the uvea, and fell asleep in the warm, humid air that soothed me off to sleep.

Chapter Nine

When I woke up, I felt very rested, but I was in a panic. I thought I had lost the Singularity, I checked in my bag to see if it was still there. I sighed in relief when I saw the singularity in the bag. I quickly closed the bag back up again and continued on my journey toward the ever-expanding mouth of the serpent. After a long time, I finally made it to the edge of the month, I stood in between the two razor-sharp teeth and waited. I rested again and I got up and continued my journey. I changed out of my dirty space clothes and into my new ones. I jumped off and floated into space, away from the creature. I floated to my backup time machine. I opened the side door and floated inside and closed the door behind me. I looked up and saw I was not alone. In the driver’s sat my mom. She was facing me. She looked at me and smiled. She asked,”Ready to go?” I responded by shaking my head and saying.“No, I have to do one more thing, then we’ll go.” I opened the door and floated backward out the door and floated back to the serpent. I looked at the serpent which wasn’t glowing anymore. This is because I had taken the Singularity and so obviously, it stopped shining silver. I stared into its cold black eyes without blinking. The serpent’s eyes had stopped shining along with the rest of its body. Now, its eyes were as empty as darkness itself. I knew what I had to do. I was going to stand for myself like I should have done in the beginning to get the singularity out easier. I exclaimed,”No more, this is my universe and you don’t BELONG HERE!” The serpent recoiled in fear. I continued,”THAT’S RIGHT, YOU HEARD ME, YOU DON’T BELONG HERE! NOW GET OUT! BEGONE!” At my words, the serpent fled into the darkness never to be seen again. I nodded after the creature. “AND STAY OUT!” I yelled after it. After that, I floated back to the machine, floated inside, closed the door behind me, and slid down to the floor. I lay there, panting, trying to catch my breath and calm down from the confrontation with the serpent. I looked up at Mom and gave her a look that meant that I had enough. It was time to go back to the present day. So Mom drove me home in the Modern Era. On the way back to the present, I talked with my mom about the adventure that I had to find the missing singularity. She listened very intently, only pausing to remind me to breathe and to talk more slowly so that she could understand me better. I tried to follow her advice, but I was just too excited. When I got near the end, I decided to ask my mom a quick question. “How did you know when to come.” My mom chuckled,”I just figured that you would be doing something like this today.” We both laughed. When we were done laughing, I had only one last question to ask. “Am I in trouble?” Mom waved her hand and responded,”no, of course not! Why would I do such a thing?” I muttered,”Never mind.” We both sat in silence for the rest of the ride home. During that time, I wondered if the singularity really exploded into the universe. Then I told myself that of course, the singularity exploded. But little did I know that the singularity didn’t explode. Instead, right before I got back to the present, the other Cidney from the alternate timeline had already gone back in time to the same time as the singularity and ate it, ultimately restarting the cycle all over again until infinitely. Therefore, the singularity never gave birth to the universe in an alternate timeline. That timeline is still out there, even now with no universe in sight, all because of a girl named Cidney going back in time just to see the big bang. And without meaning it, that tiny bit of time travel messed up the whole timeline.

hi. My name is Cidney Poshi-Sinani and I am the author of the book called The Search for The Singularity. I wrote this book because I love the genre science fiction and I always loved the time travel scenario. I always loved to imagine if I was time-traveling myself. I actually wrote many time travel stories, but this is the first one that I put more details and chapters. This is also the first-ever story that I made into an official book. This book was actually part of another story called The Ultimate Universe Paradox, I just wanted to add to it and make it into a book. I put a lot of time and effort into this book, so I hope you enjoyed my journey across time and space on my search for the Singularity!
